Phlebotomy Technician Program
The Phlebotomy Technician is the person responsible for the drawing of blood (venipuncture) as instructed by a physician or other health care professional. The Phlebotomy Technician program will teach the student the appropriate blood drawing procedures and techniques, while also providing comprehensive lectures and laboratory sessions covering areas such as:
- Laboratory safety and infection control
- Medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
- Patient preparation, newborn, children and adult specimen collections (venipuncture)
- Laboratory testing, specimen processing, labeling, transportation and delivery systems
- Non-blood specimens and testing and Point-of-Care Testing
- Chemistry profiles and their clinical significance
- Medical-legal ethics and issues
This course trains students to be effective participants in a medical laboratory team in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, laboratories and blood bank.
Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to sit for the national certification exam and to seek employment as a phlebotomist in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, medical clinics, physician’s offices and other medical facilities.
Employment Outlook:
Job opportunities for Phlebotomists are expected to be excellent. According to an annual report from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, phlebotomists are in high demand.

Program Admission Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED certificate
- Completed Application Form
- A personal interview prior to enrollment. The admissions representative will clearly outline all the programs, benefits and schedules.
- No healthcare or medical office work experience is required
Program Basics:
- Certificate of Completion requiring 10 weeks to complete
- Classes in the mornings, evening and during weekends
- Student much achieve a “C” grade or better (70%) in the course to be eligible to progress and obtain certification.
