Dental Assistant Certificate Program

The Dental Assisting Program at MIHC is designed to provide the necessary education and training for graduates to become proficient in the delivery of their duties and knowledgeable about the delivery of dental health care.
Our training is specifically designed to give you the hands on experience and real life examples required to make you a confident and competent dental assistant.
Dental assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. They work chairside as dentists examine and treat patients. They make patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and obtain their dental records. Assistants hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients’ mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices. Assistants also sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare trays of instruments for dental procedures, and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care. In addition, students will learn about:
- Dental radiology
- Impressions
- Oral Anatomy and Diseases
- Crown and Bridges
- Endodontics
- Preparation of Plastic Dental Models
- Pediatric Dentistry
- Restorations
- Oral surgery

The student will be taught in the actual practicing dental office. Our instructors have many years of experience and provide a very comprehensive course of study in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. Dental healthcare can be a rewarding and enormously satisfying career.

Program Admission Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED certificate
- Completed Application Form
- A personal interview prior to enrollment. The admissions representative will clearly outline all the programs, benefits and schedules.
- No healthcare or medical office work experience is required
Program Basics:
- Certificate of Completion requiring 10 weeks to complete
- Classes in the mornings, evening and during weekends
- Student much achieve a “C” grade or better (70%) in the course to be eligible to progress and obtain certification.
